The App Review: Foodspotting
Each week we review a food related app. This week it’s Foodspotting – find out what the Lempert Report thought.
What it says it does: Foodspotting is a visual guide to good food and where to find it. Instead of reviewing restaurants, you can recommend dishes and see what foodspotters, friends and experts recommend wherever you go. Unlike other restaurant apps, Foodspotting answers questions like: where can I find the best…
Because it’s about dishes, not just restaurants, you can find whatever you’re craving, from Dumplings and Dosas to Cronuts and Ramen Burgers.
What it actually does: Foodspotting helps connect eaters with good food. Foodspotting is powered by people who take pictures of their food, so deciding where to go and what to get is as easy as browsing images of dishes at local restaurants. You can see what looks best at any restaurant and recommend your favorite dishes by snapping a photo or tapping “Loved it!”
Since Foodspotting launched in 2010, over 4 million dishes have been spotted around the world and counting!
How useful is the information for target audience?: The app is very useful for finding restaurants and dishes that look appetizing as well as sharing and even cataloging favorite meals and restaurants.
Ease of use: The app is very easy to use, browse and find restaurants around the world! Uploading your own images is also a breeze.
Who would best benefit from the app?: Foodspotting is very useful for those who love to see what they are going to eat before they decide on a restaurant or meal. If you want to know what other eaters ate and what they thought, Foodspotting is for you.
