This frozen coffee dessert could not be simpler to make. You don’t need an ice cream maker, just ice cube trays and a large stainless steel bowl. You can substitute any nuts for hazelnuts and Original Blend tastes delicious in this, too.
Hazelnut Coffee Frost
Ingredients: 2 cups freshly-brewed Dunkin’ Donuts Hazelnut Coffee 2/3 cups granulated sugar 2/3 cups brown sugar ½ cup whipping cream, for garnish as desired 2 tablespoons chopped hazelnuts, for garnish as desired
Directions: Brew the coffee and put in a large bowl. Stir in the sugar slowly and allow to dissolve. Set aside to cool. When the bowl is cool to the touch, pour the liquid into ice cube trays and freeze about 2 hours, just until the contents are “almost” hard. Remove the trays from the freezer and pop them out into a stainless steel bowl. With a wooden spoon, beat the semi-frozen mixture until just lumpy, then cover the bowl and put it in the freezer. Continue to freeze, about 2 hours, or until the mixture is the consistency of sherbet.
Remove the bowl and scoop out a good size serving into pretty cups or clear parfait glasses. Chop the hazelnuts and set aside. In a very clean glass or metal bowl, whip the cream until peaks form. Scoop out a dollop of cream on top of each sherbet serving, top the cream with the chopped nuts and give to your eager guests.
YIELD: 8 servings.
