If you are a pet owner, you've probably read or heard somewhere that there is a big difference in the pet foods that are available in today's market when it comes to your pet's health. Some veterinarians tell us to read the ingredient list to make sure the food we buy for our pets does not contain animal byproduct, preservatives and things like ground corn or wheat that are difficult to digest. Some veterinarians blame the rise in cancer in animals on what they have been traditionally eating. And, some veterinarians tell us it's better to actually make food for our pet, which is usually nto the best option for busy people.
More products that promote themselves as all-natural and/or organic are being made available for pet owners. However, most of them are not available in the supermarket and come at a much higher price.
Bon-A-Paw-Tete is one of those that we recently put to the test with our six furry friends. These homemade, natural, organic entrees come frozen individually and look good enough for humans. Pizza, chicken lo mein, tamale pie…a variety that makes the old, boring dry stuff pale in comparison. Read on to see how our pets and their owners responded to this product.

BOSCO: - Wow, what a bonanza! I got to try so many products, and they were all delicious. I haven't tried the Chicken Lo Mein, the Tamale Pie, or the Liver and Vegetable Pate - my Mom kept forgetting about giving them to me and when she did give me some, I only got half of a piece (can you say stingy?) My favorites were the Pizza Pie, the Beef Liver and Bacon Balls and the Cheesy Vegetable Cake - my friend, Maci clued me into that one and boy, was she right...yummy! At first the salmon souffle didn't smell too good but I did try it, and it was pretty good. The Apple Meatloaf was really, really good, and I thought I was going to have to fight my Dad for it...come to think of it, I haven't seen the other half...hmmm? My Mom was disappointed to see that the cost was $3.49, and you had to order 20 pieces - major bummer. We don't know if you can mix and match or if it means you have to order 20 pieces of one product. The goodies arrived packed in a styrofoam cooler packed in dry ice. Hope everyone is keeping warm out there. Hugs and kisses, Bosco

PEABODY: The guy I live with loves me very much, and he's pretty much a health nut. So, needless to say, he likes to make sure I eat nutritious foods. He was glad to hear about the healthy ingredients in these products. But, the problem is that I'm a finicky little one, and I don't get too much into stuff that I'm not used to. However, I did like the salmon soufflé. The guy that takes care of me was surprised to see that I ate the whole thing. I don’t think I would want this all of the time, but maybe once in a while. Can you make it available in the supermarket, so it will be easier for my owner to buy? I'm afraid he'll just forget about it if he doesn't see it in the aisles.

MAX AND MACI: We were so excited when mom brought home this new food. It's so much more exciting than my regular stuff. In fact, sometimes mom has a hard time getting me (Maci) to eat, and the veterinarian says I need to gain a little weight. Max has no problems with eating. But, we do both have a very sensitive stomach, so we can't eat a lot of different things. But, this product has to be the best one we have ever tried! Mom mixed in half with some of my regular food, and we gobbled it up with delight! She was happy that the addition of Bon-A-Paw-Tete to our food encouraged me to eat on a more regular basis, and most importantly, it's good for us. Did I mention we're growing puppies? When we ran out of the samples, we were kind of sad. See, it's $3.49 for one, and you have to order at least 20 at a time. It's just not within our budget to spend that much. Please give us a better deal! Is their a puppy discount?

RODNEY: Rodney remains a Liv-a-Littles fan above all, However, he did sample all four flavors of the Bon-A-Paw-Tete stuff and here's what he thinks. His definite favorite is the salmon souffle. He really liked that one. He also enjoyed the liver & vegetable pate (2nd place). In 3rd place were the meat & bacon balls - he ate it, but not too enthusiastically. And in last place was the pizza. He turned his nose up at this one and wouldn't even try it.
SMUDGE: Whatever food it was that I was supposed to taste, I didn't like. I don't like anything except dry kibble. In fact, I don't like anything except the exact dry kibble that lady gives me every day. I like the bag it comes in, I like the sound it makes when it falls into my bowl, I like its crunchy Texture, and I think it's delicious. Bon-A-Paw-Tete doesn't make any sound, and it's definitely not crunchy. You can keep trying to get me to review fancy cat treats and kibbles but unless it's shaped exactly like my kibble and tastes exactly like my kibble, I won't like it. If you want me to review the food that I eat, I can tell you right now that it's delicious. I will continue my position on the pet tasting panel but do not promise that I will actually taste anything. For the record, I do like many types of cat toys.
