Shrimp Alfredo Penne

The pasta cooked perfectly, the shrimp was nice and tender, but the Alfredo Sauce is a little bland and thin. We've seen a lot of innovation in microwave cooking, however this package actually takes a step backwards. The sauce package is separate and since it's frozen you actually have to defrost it or thaw it in a bowl of warm water. On top of that you cannot cook in this bag. In today's frozen meal environment this just doesn't meet the convenience requirement for microwaving. Half of this package - 11 ounces - is 24 grams of fat, 44 grams of carbs and 800 mg of sodium, but remember if you buy it - have some spices handy.

Berry Cherry Burst

Help! Help me change the way products like this are labeled. Yes it says 35% less sugar than regular juice, but it's because there's only 60% juice - the rest is water that has no sugars. The flavor is Berry Cherry Burst with pictures of cherries and raspberries surfing on the 'burst', but look on the package, where's the apple juice or pear juice or grape juice? All of which this product contains more of than raspberry and cherry juice. The taste is designed for kids and is much sweeter than it needs to be. Label it appropriately, please!

Any time I see a product that lists 10 billion anything on the front of the package I raise my eyebrows and want to know more. The 10 billion refers to the amount of probiotics at the time of manufacture - that doesn't mean that by the time you get the product there's still going to be 10 billion active. However, that is second to the fact that this ice cream bar which is just 110 calories and 8 grams of fat is delicious. The chocolate is thin and wonderful tasting. I love the fact that the caramel is not a swirl, but actually sandwiched in the middle and the ice cream itself tastes great. Yes this is way more expensive; and the question is whether or not all those probiotics and prebiotics can help your digestive health.

Lay's: Kettle Cooked 40% Less Fat

This product is a HIT!

I really admire Lay's for keeping their recipes free from palm oil. They only use sunflower, corn or canola oils, which not only have been shown to be healthier fats, but also, in my opinion fry the potatoes much better. These kettle cooked chips are 40% less fat, just 6 grams per ounce, and 140 calories. The slightly thicker slice delivers the perfect crunch, and pleasantly, these don't taste salty at all. As their old commercials say "I bet you can't eat just one".

Organic Cream of Mushroom

This product is a HIT!

If you are looking for a thick, hearty cream of mushroom soup, make sure that you mix this with whole milk - you can mix it either with water or milk - we mixed it with water and frankly it came out a little thin. The mushroom flavor is good and the combination of spices doesn't interfere with the mushroom. Half a cup, when made with water is just 100 calories, 2 1/2 grams of fat, but it does have 740 mg of sodium. My recommendation would be forget about it as a soup and use it in its concentrated form over pasta or in other recipes.
