Each week we review a food related app. This week it’s Audio Chef Co. – find out what The Lempert Report thought.
What it says it does: Simply get out the ingredients and equipment for one of Audio Chef’s delicious meals, press play, and follow the step-by-step audio. There's no need to measure or prepare ingredients ahead of time, just relax and cook along with the app. Audio Chef offers a refreshing new spin on recipes and cooking instruction. Our audio-based approach leaves your hands and eyes free to listen and cook along with our fun audio recordings. Experience a new way to cook!
What it actually does: Audio Chef allows you to keep your cookbook or computer clean with audio cooking instructions. You can now easily follow a recipe without touching or looking at your phone or cookbook. Recipes utilize a variety of ingredients and cooking techniques, and users can search recipes by ingredient. Users can also search to find gluten-free, vegan, and dairy-free meals. For those who prefer to read the recipe, there are written instructions, and the user can bypass the audio function (but don’t try to go back and forth as the directions are not synced). There is also a built in timer, which is very convenient.
How useful is the information for target audience?: The recipes are healthy and easy to follow. For those who don’t like to get their cookbooks or iPhones or computers dirty while cooking this is a great app.
Ease of use: The app is easy to use and even specifies the kitchen tools needed to complete the recipe. The only major glitch is that you can’t go between the audio and written instructions without loosing your place in the directions.
Who would best benefit from the app?: Anyone who is new or already enjoys cooking. Audio Chef makes the best use of technology so cooking is fun and easy.
