Each week we review a food related app. This week it’s ChefTap Recipe Organizer – find out what the Lempert Report thought.

What it says it does: ChefTap is the only app that can automatically clip recipes from any website. ChefTap takes recipes from any website and saves them in your own permanent archive so you'll never lose another recipe again. Have a favorite food blog? No problem! ChefTap will clip those recipes too and give you a link to the original post in case you want to refer back to it. See a recipe you like on Pinterest? Just share the pin or the whole pinboard with ChefTap, we'll take care of the rest.

What it actually does: ChefTap helps users organize and grow their collection of online recipes fom just about any website. When it’s time to cook, ChefTap displays recipes in an easy-to-read format on both phones and tablets. You even can search millions of recipes on the web and clip them into your collection without ever leaving the app.

Here are some great features of the app:


  • Like a board you see on pinterest? ChefTap can import all of the recipes on that pinboard!
  • Adjust the text size for easy reading on phones or tablets.
  • Save pictures of recipes from the web or use your own
  • Can view clipped recipes offline.
  • Sort recipes by favorites, new recipes, recently prepared, recently viewed or alphabetically
  • Users can create their own tags like ‘Paleo’, ‘Vegetarian’, 'Cocktails' or 'Gluten-Free' to stay organized
  • All recipes can be edited


How useful is the information for target audience?: The app is great for anyone who wants to be able to collect recipes from a variety of websites and blogs. Users can even add recipe ingredients to a shopping list, helping to stay more organized when shopping.

Ease of use: The app is very easy to use; save recipes using the built-in sharing features in iOS, also scale to the size of your device, laptops and tablets with larger screens will show more columns and larger images. The free version allows users to clip and save up to 50 recipes.

Who would best benefit from the app?: Anyone who wants to keep their recipes more organized or always forgets what website “they saw that great recipe."
