The App Review: EatBy

Each week we review a food related app. This week it’s EatBy Smart Kitchen App – find out what the Lempert Report thought.

What it says it does: Did you know that the average household can waste a thousand dollars each year by throwing forgotten food out? What it actually does: The EatBy app is great for knowing what to shop for, what to throw out, and for sharing with your family, so you all know what’s for dinner! The Eat By list shows your food in the order it needs to be eaten. You can even set up a Reminder Alert, which lets you know when something needs to be eaten soon, and the Intelligent Shopping List automates your list. The app is supposed to make your life easier and for many products it does, but more obscure, or smaller brands are not yet in the app, so need to be added manually, which could take more time than it’s worth.

How useful is the information for target audience?: If you are wasting a lot of food and love using apps to help organize your life, EatBy will help you eat food before it expires, thus reducing food waste and also saves you money!

Ease of use: The app is very easy to use, scan the barcodes of your items or add them manually. Then you can start keeping track of what you have and what you need and what needs to be eaten! With easy icons of how to keep track of what you need and how to manage the shopping list, using EatBy is a breeze.

Who would best benefit from the app?: The app is best for someone who likes to keep track of their items on their smart phone or tablet and has the patience to upload or scan all of the items they shop for. Do it once and your done!
