The App Review: Garden Plate

December 07, 2016

Each week we review a food related app. This week it’s Garden Plate – find out what the Lempert Report thought.

What it says it does: Tons of tasty clean and green vegetarian recipes at your fingertip! Whether you're vegetarian, vegan, gluten intolerant, or just looking for healthy and tasty green dishes, this app is perfect for you.  Our app is highly visual. Our goal was to offer a wide variety of recipes and a highly usable and visually appealing application.

What it actually does: Browse beautiful pictures of delicious food and make the dish yourself. The app boasts recipes split into categories including: vegan, gluten-free, raw, salads, snacks, side dishes, as well as breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. Each section is nicely designed with enticing photographs. Save favorites for later, and easily add ingredients to a shopping list. See what category the recipe fits into, so cooking for those with a dietary restriction is made much simpler.

How useful is the information for target audience?: Garden Plate is great for those who want to find healthy recipes, or for those with food allergies or restrictions.

Ease of use: The app is very easy to use – scroll through the beautiful food photos for recipes that will suit any eating occasion. The recipes themselves are also easy to follow, with clearly laid out ingredients and instructions.

Who would best benefit from the app?: Anyone looking for healthy vibrant recipes or who needs to cook for someone who is gluten free, vegan, or raw.
