Each week we review a food related app. This week it’s ipiit, The Food Ambassador - Grocery Scanner for Elimination Diet & Food Allergies – find out what the Lempert Report thought.

What it says it does: ipiit helps you buy healthy groceries and manage food allergies. Scan barcodes and select your preferences like Gluten-free, or Lactose-free. Compare products and ingredients - calories, fat, sodium, carbs, fiber, sugar, protein and iron. We have 300,000+ US food products in our constantly growing product database.

What it actually does: Scan barcodes on food products, find ingredients lists and nutrition panels with the ipiit app. Create personalized preferences and avoid allergy triggers - Gluten, Lactose, Aspartame, Egg, MSG, Artificial Colors and Sweeteners. The app also lets you compare products for their nutritional value – and if you are not finding what you need you can use ipiit to find better alternative products and make purchasing decisions based on what's important to you.

How useful is the information for target audience?: The app is very useful for those who don’t want to spend the time reading labels, or who aren’t exactly sure what all of the ingredients on packaged foods really mean. Ipiit also helps users maintain diets; for example: elimination, paleo, wheat free, milk protein free, etc.

Ease of use: The app is very easy to use from anywhere! With your ipiit account you can save your preferences, view history, and favorite products.

Who would best benefit from the app?: If you have food allergies or sticking to a specific diet, or are shopping for someone who is, ipiit will make your life a lot easier!
