Each week we review a food related app. This week it’s Recipe, Menu & Cooking Planner By Pepperplate – find out what the Lempert Report thought.
What it says it does: Pepperplate is the only app for serious cooks - it has all the tools you need to cook weeknight dinners or host a dinner party for 12. Manage your recipes, create menus, shop with ease and cook like a pro. Take your iPhone or iPad into the kitchen and cook your whole menu with multiple cooking timers. Import recipes from your favorite sites and add your own from cookbooks, magazines or old family recipes.
What it actually does: Pepperplate is your virtual cookbook, shopping list, and planner all in one app. It gives you the ability to save recipes from various places on the web and create your own. You can plan ahead by organizing your meals for the week or month by adding menus and recipes to the schedule. Planning a party? Pepperplate can help you do that as well, by combining recipes into menus for dinner parties or holiday meal planning. As you add items to your shopping list, the app automatically syncs to your iPad, iPhone, iPod and Pepperplate.com. You can even organize your shopping to automatically match the way you shop in the grocery store. When cooking, the app even has a handy timer, so you never loose track of when your meals should be ready.
How useful is the information for target audience?: The app is excellent for any home cook who wants to get more organized with their recipes, shopping and/or planning. It’s also great to be able to browse the web and save recipes as you go to add to the app.
Ease of use: Pepperplate is very easy to use, and the ability to add recipes to the app with just one click (using bookmarklet) is a bonus.
Who would best benefit from the app?: Anyone who wants to get more organized with menu planning, recipes and or food shopping.
