1. Back to the Roots: Organic Stoneground Flakes
Love this brand, and all they do for taste, the environment and our fellow man. This cereal is made from red spring wheat on Fred Kirschenmann's biodynamic farm in North Dakota. Why is that important? Biodynamics is a holistic, ecological and ethical approach to farming, gardening, food and nutrition. Think of it as organic farming times ten! Full review.
2. Beanfields Snacks Bean and Rice Chips Jalapeño Nacho
I just love how beans have taken over the snack shelves. And Beanfields is one of the best! These are crisp, tasty and yes hot n' spicy. They are terrific tasting. Gluten free and non-GMO they are loaded with protein - 5 grams in just about 11 chips with 140 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, no sugar and just 190 mg of sodium. Full review.
3. Farmer Direct Co-op Split Green Peas
What a great idea. One hundred percent organic split peas. No other ingredients. You can add these to just about anything and add great nutrition and flavor. Low sodium, low fat, high in protein 12 grams and 4 grams of sugars. Just over 15 calories in a one-quarter cup. Full review.
4. Way Better Snacks Tortilla Chips Nacho Cheese
Typically I don't like "nacho cheese" chips, they just taste so artificial - but not these. These sprouted flax, quinoa and chia mixed with stone ground whole corn uses real cheddar cheese and tastes great. A touch of red chili spice tops it off with just the right flavor and not overly spicy. Full review.
5. Rawmio Gourmet Raw Chocolate Bark Simply Hemp
This is a work of art. The taste of the raw chocolate itself and the finish to the bar. Wow! I'm a huge supporter of hemp foods and the hemp seeds on top adds the perfect crunch and Omegas. This chocolate is so smooth you will want to eat the whole bar, and another! Full review.
6. Stonyfield Organic 100% Grassfed Whole Milk Yogurt Strawberry
I just love the move that so many great brands like Stonyfield are making to 100% grass fed milk. This whole milk yogurt tastes delicious, not sweet but just like yogurt with strawberries blended in. 140 calories, 6 grams of fat, 4 grams of protein and 15 grams of sugars, which I wish was a little lower. Full review.
7. Dr. McDougall's Right Foods Superfood Hot Cereal Cups Chia Berry
This is so smart! Not only are the ingredients fabulous and real foods with raspberries, strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. 640 mg of Omega 3s, 190 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, no sodium, 6 grams of protein and 3 grams of sugars. This is delicious and convenient. Add water and microwave in the cup. The so smart idea is they have an optional sugar packet. Full review.
8. Padma's Easy Exotic Organic Rice Thai Jasmine Medley
Typically I don't like celebrity food products, but this is an exception. This recipe of aromatic white jasmine rice mixed with red and black jasmine rice is flavorful, healthy and nutritious. No sugar, no sodium. Look at these ingredients - just rice! Wow. Full review.
