I love introducing new foods and beverages to our readers and viewers…..and love to bring them on The View to get the opinions and reviews from the ladies of The View: Whoopi, Sherri, Barbara and now Jenny (it’s my first time giving Jenny McCarthy food…so tune in to watch what happens). I’ve selected some of my favorites - some are so new that my video reviews aren’t even posted yet!

Food Should Taste Good Tortilla Chips Kimchi Flavor
My rating is 91

The first time I ever had kimchee was actually in China and I loved it, so I was excited to taste this. It's a very good tortilla chip with lots of great ingredients and lots of flavor. My complaint is kimchi should be much hotter and spicier than this. One serving, which is about 12 chips, is just 140 calories, 7 grams of fat and less than 1 gram of sugars. It's a really terrific chip, but hey, Pete, crank up the spice! I know, I know…not everyone likes Kimchee.

Seapoint Farms: Crunchy Coated Premium Black Edamame
My rating is 90

I had never tasted black edamame before, in fact I had never heard of black edamame. It has a sweeter flavor and of course is black in color. These beans are lightly coated with corn starch, coconut oil, sugar and sea salt and are very crunchy and delicious. 1/4 cup - less than 1/3 of the package - is just 140 calories, 4 1/2 grams of fat, and contains 9 grams of protein. This is definitely a snack to consider and makes YOU a trend setter!

A beer from Italy, sweet, caramel, fruity flavor but subtle, with flavors of toffee, a touch of chocolate, pear and cinnamon as a result of the caramelized sugar. Brewed by Amarcord Brewery in the small medieval town of Apecchio, Italy, AMA Bruna is a beer made specifically for the Italian dinner table. Designed by Brooklyn Brewmaster Garrett Oliver, Ama Bruna is refermented in the bottle with brown candy sugar (7,5% ABV).

Numi Organics: Savory Tea Garden Sampler
My rating is 98

This is a very cool idea. Now before you crinkle up your nose, this sampler has 6 different blends - some with black tea and some with green tea, and they're all vegetable based. Spinach Chive, Beet Cabbage, Fennel Spice, Tomato Mint, Carrot Curry and Broccoli Cilantro. My favorites are actually the Tomato Mint and the Spinach Chive, but they're all delicious and frankly this opens up a whole new category of tea. I could see drinking this with a meal, or by itself. Let your taste buds be adventurous and go out and buy this sampler.

Starfish : Shrimp Burger Panko Breaded
My rating is 85

This is a really cool idea; take 7 whole shrimp, press them together in a patty, bread the patty with panko bread crumbs and bake for about 22 minutes. This 'burger' is very tasty, and the shrimp tasted fresh and cooked perfectly. Each patty is 230 calories, 9 grams of protein and 11 grams of fat. My only complaint is I wish they would put on the package the country of origin of the shrimp. No artificial colors or flavors.

Qrunch Quinoa Burgers 94 Sweet Curry with Lentils
My rating 94

Even though they're promoting this as gluten free, it’s not limited to that - this is one of the best veggie burgers I've had. The texture, the mouth feel and the flavor are terrific. Made with a base of millet, quinoa and lentils and mixed with onions, carrots, broccoli, spinach and garlic, these burgers can be made in a toaster oven, toaster, oven, stove top and grill. One burger is 4 grams of protein, 10 grams of fat and 200 mg of sodium. The typical 3 ounce beef burger is about 14 grams of fat.

High Road Craft Gelato Pistachio, Honey, Ricotta Flavor
My rating is 91

This ice cream company could well be one of the hottest food companies for 2014. A recipe of milk, cream, sugar, pistachio, ricotta cheese, cream cheese, honey, gelatin and sea salt, expertly crafted, makes one of the best gelato that I've ever had. Half a cup is 260 calories and 16 grams of fat, but well worth it. The bits of pistachio are very flavorful and the mouth feel is perfect. You will love it!

Wonderfully Raw Coco-Roons Lemon Pie Flavor
My rating is 95

Get past the name - I know it's a little too cute, but these are absolutely delicious. One Coco-Roon is 78 calories, 6 grams of fat, 26 mg of sodium and 4 grams of sugars and I guarantee even one of these will satisfy. The balance between the coconut, the almond flour and the maple syrup is perfect. These do not taste sweet, just satisfying. For those purists, the organic, unfiltered maple syrup is from Vermont. No artificial colors or preservatives.
