Coffee, jalapeno and bleu cheese add some kick to these Mojo Burgers!

Coffee is well known to add substance, body, and a punch of flavor to stews, roasts, and other recipes with meat like these scrumptious hamburgers. Your family will ask for these over and over again.

To make the coffee grounds extra fine, grind them into a powder in a coffee grinder or blender or place on a piece of waxed paper or parchment paper and fold half the paper over the grind. Using a rolling pin, roll over the grounds until a powdery consistency.

The cheese in this recipe offsets the punch of the jalapeno pepper and chili powder; if bleu cheese isn’t your thing, Monterey Jack can be substituted.

Mojo Burgers Ingredients:
1 pound ground chuck
1/4 cup crumbled bleu cheese
1 heaped tablespoon regular coffee, ground extra fine
1 heaped tablespoon chili powder, or to taste
1 teaspoon brown or Dijon mustard
1/4 cup green onions, both green and white parts, chopped fine
1 small jalapeno pepper, seeds removed, sliced thinly
1/4 cup red pepper, chopped fine
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Directions:
Put all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl and mix gently.
Form into four large or six medium patties and cook. Any cooking method will do: from frying in a hot skillet, broiling, or grilling outdoors.
Serve with or without a bun, plus baked potatoes, a small green salad or lettuce, onions and tomatoes as topping.
Add a hot, steaming cup of your favorite coffee and you have a blissful meal.
