This week’s new product review is Tuno – a plant based alternative to canned tuna. This variety is Lemon Pepper flavor and is a great recipe. Made from textured soy protein, soybean oil, sugar, lemon juice and spices – it is a terrific choice for those who prefer plant-based foods. It top the scales with a score of 92. One can is just 30 calories, 3.5 grams of fat, 300 mg of sodium – which I wish was lower – 11 carbs including 3 grams of added sugars and 13 grams of protein. Don’t expect the taste or texture to be the same as canned tune – judge it on its own as a brand new category and it will satisfy. I know the die hards won’t like what I’ll say next – but I’m going to try it as half tuna and half Tuno – which I think will be sensational! Retails for $2.49 for a 5 oz can.
