Ice cream lives past summer!

Just because it's summer and the ice cream trucks are gone, ice cream can still make consumers happy, and in fact data shows that it always does

The end of summer means the end of the ice cream truck. Sad for patrons who will have to wait through Fall, Winter and Spring to hear that distinctive, happy music again… but good news for Supermarkets! The end of summer means retailers are once again front and center when it comes to fulfilling ice cream cravings. Now is the time for supermarkets to entice family traffic beyond peak season, associating the buying and eating of ice cream with the fun times of family & friends.. Why not highlight displays of ice cream cakes? Create-your-own sundae parties? And through the cooler seasons you can always promote combinations like apple pie and vanilla ice-cream! Just because the trucks are gone, ice cream can still make consumers happy, and in fact data shows that it always does. According to Neilson, ice cream posted at least three straight years of dollar sales gains, culminating in 1.7% growth to $5.81 billion in the U.S., all outlets combined including convenience stores, during the 52 weeks ended July 6, 2013. So, take advantage of this, don’t let the end of summer be the end of ice cream!
