Author, Francesca Biller-Safran,  talks with Lempert about growing up in a Jewish and Japanese home and learning to embrace both cultures through the shared recipes from both sides of  the family. Biller-Safran has written many articles about food, specifically about the rich and exotic blend of Jewish and Japanese cuisine and how it has helped bond both cultures of her family in invaluable ways. This has become more a universal theme these days that is growing as more couples marry outside of their religion, faith and culture, and consequently bring children into the world that are multicultural treasures, only adding more flavor to the melting pot that is our country.

With a thirty percent increase in women farm operators from 2002 – 2007, along with increases in women-owned businesses and involvement in government, the feminine voice in food and farming is starting to be heard. Lempert talks with Temra Costa, Author ofFARMER JANE:  Women Changing the Way We Eat - a compelling and empowering look at how communities, businesses and homes can be enriched by the sustainable food movement.
