The App Review: FishLine

Each week we review a food related app. This week it’s FishLine: Find Fresh Local Sustainable Seafood, Crab & Fish Anywhere – find out what the Lempert Report thought.

What it says it does: FishLine finds Fresh Local Seafood for you from fishermen off the boat, local seafood markets, farmer's markets, local restaurants or cafes, or community supported fisheries.

What it actually does: Fresh seafood is one of the best and healthiest meals you can have, and now you can connect with local fishermen, markets, CSFs, and restaurants to find out what’s freshly caught and available locally. The app is for both food service and consumers to link up with local fisherman in California’s Central Coast. View the fresh local catch or place an order ahead of time to guarantee your next meal. The app even has some great recipes.

The app includes a GPS to find the nearest port, boat or market with fresh seafood for sale, so if you are on vacation or are near several ports, FishLine helps you figure out where to find the fresh catch.

How useful is the information for target audience?: The app is great for those in the bay area who want to find fresh local fish. It will be even better when the app expands to new locations.

Ease of use: Just scroll through the vendors or use the GPS to find local fish near you.

Who would best benefit from the app?: Anyone who loves fresh fish and lives in the bay area.
