Each week we review a food related app. This week it’s Fromage – find out what the Lempert Report thought.

What it says it does: Need a great cheese app for your iPhone or iPad? The Fromage app is an excellent guide for cheeses made throughout the world. A “must have” for all connoisseurs of fine foods. Each cheese entry features artistically presented cheese photos, historically narrated flavor descriptions, and suggested best choices for complementary wines. You can add your own cheeses to the standard library and attach personal notes about any of the cheeses.

What it actually does: Fromage is the app all about cheese; shopping, eating, enjoying, pairings, history and more. Browse the cheeses on the app to find out all about the cheese. You can even create personal cheese notes, rate cheeses, add cheeses to your favorite lists (Try, Buy, or Favorites categories), record tasting impressions with up to 70 tasting keywords, and search the cheese library. Love a cheese that’s not on the app? You can also enter your own cheeses with photos and list those cheeses automatically in the “My Additions” category.

How useful is the information for target audience?: Hit or miss when you shop for cheese, or are you hesitant to try new cheeses? Fromage is extremely useful as it provides all of the basics that you need to pick and pair the right cheese.

Ease of use: The app is very easy to use, pictures are mouthwatering and making your own additions is simple.

Who would best benefit from the app?: Fromage says it best, if you’re a classically trained chef, professional party planner, cheese buyer, or just plain cheese lover, Fromage is for you.
