Each week we review a food related app. This week it’s Mealime - Healthy Meal Plans – find out what the Lempert Report thought.
What it says it does: Mealime is a simple way for busy singles, couples, and families to plan their meals and eat healthier. Our meal plans & recipes are highly customizable so you can easily personalize a plan that works with your unique tastes and lifestyle. Sign up to Mealime and join over 100,000 people who have used our meal plans to eat healthier, reduce stress, lose weight, save money, and live happier, more productive lives.
What it actually does: Mealime helps eaters prepare and shop for their meals seamlessly. Select your dietary preferences and the app will prepare a meal plan for you as well as a shopping list with all of the necessary ingredients –the list is even optimized with standard grocery store layouts in mind. Meals all have step-by-step and hassle-free cooking instructions. And on top of that, the meal plans are created in order to eliminate food waste as much as possible. If users sick to the plan, they’ll use up the majority of purchased ingredients.
The personalization feature is impressive, from classic, flexitarian, pescetarian, low carb, and vegetarian diet types to gluten free, shellfish free, fish free, dairy free, peanut free, and tree nut free allergy restrictions to individual dislikable ingredients, meal plans are truly personalized.
How useful is the information for target audience?: Mealime is very useful and helps solve the daily question, “what’s for dinner?” Use Mealime to stick to your dietary restrictions, cook more at home, waste less, and just be more efficient planning, shopping and cooking meals.
Ease of use: The app is very user friendly, although some recipes are on the more complicated end; users with a little bit of cooking experience can decide to omit some ingredients or steps.
Who would best benefit from the app?: Anyone who is interested in eating healthier, sticking to their dietary restrictions, or getting new ideas based on a family member’s dietary restrictions, or just shopping and planning more seamlessly.
Cost: Free, create more elaborate meals plans with in-app purchases.
