Grownup Coffee Oatmeal
This is a hearty and delicious way to serve tummy-warming oatmeal. You can make the oatmeal the night before, organize all the condiments in small bowls, cover them, and presentation is a snap.
This is definitely an energy-giving breakfast!
Grownup Oatmeal Ingredients:
Steel-cut oatmeal, prepared the night before with weakened coffee instead of water (regular or vanilla)
Brown sugar or pure maple syrup
Dried cranberries and/or dried currants or raisins
Sliced or whole almonds
Whole or broken pieces of walnuts
Sliced fresh bananas
Condensed milk as needed
Prepare a pot of coffee although with 1/2 to 3/4 the amount of coffee you'd regularly use.
Put the brewed coffee into a saucepan; add the oatmeal and, stirring frequently, cook until soft.
Remove from the heat and put in a heatproof bowl. Cover and refrigerate.
Organize the condiments by putting them in pretty bowls; cover and set aside on the kitchen counter.
For serving, heat the oatmeal about two to four minutes (depending on the quantity) in the microwave and serve along with the bowls of condiments.
Serve at room temperature with warm condensed milk.
