Heinz teamed up with Sam Jones to develop this recipe. Sam's grandfather Pete opened the Skylight Inn back in 1947 when he was just 17. President Reagan and then VP Bush were among his admirers and tons of press followed crowning the restaurant as one of the top for BBQ in the nation where they still cook whole hogs over wood. While we don't reckon this is the same house BBQ sauce they serve in the restaurant - it has a good aroma and flavor. No artificial ingredients, no HFCS, no fat - but still a lot of sodium, 350 mg in 2 teaspoons.
