There is fairly universal appeal across key demographic segments within the top ranking categories in the dairy department
June is dairy month and the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association has teamed up with 20th Century Fox and the theater release of Ice Age: Collision Course to reinforce this year’s theme “Out of this World Possibilities in the Dairy Aisle.” This increased attention on the dairy aisle helps drive traffic and expose shoppers to the many innovative options that are available.
The expansion of refrigerated milk alternatives is an excellent example of how product innovation is behind growth in a category with huge sales and importance across the store. The diversity of options is meeting the needs of consumers who have dietary restrictions and are looking for a different flavor profile.
According to NFRA’s State of the Industry Report, there is fairly universal appeal across key demographic segments within the top ranking categories in the dairy department. And as consumers look for more real, fresh foods, the dairy aisles are growing in importance.
Innovation within yogurt, refrigerated juice and eggs has also yielded excellent growth within the dairy department. Many dairy foods and beverages are showcasing today’s health and culinary trends with products that are more authentic and higher end – like Greek yogurt, European butter, Grass fed milk and cheeses.
We will be featuring the latest dairy products in our product reviews this month, so be sure to check back each day.
As dairy brands are being more innovative, it’s the perfect opportunity to keep shoppers in the dairy aisles longer. With exciting retail promotions, sampling and new products retailers can showcase the real ingredients that offer convenience and culinary inspiration as well as the staples that the American shopper counts on every day for good nutrition and great taste.
