I never really paid attention to the water coming out of my home faucets it just showed up on the utility bill that most of us pay without really reading. A new analysis from Food & Water Watch, reported this week by The Guardian, looked at 2025 billing data from the 500 largest community water systems in the country. Together they serve about 155 million people, roughly 45% of the country. Their finding is that US households now pay 62% more for drinking water than they did ten years ago. Wow!
