Agrofresh is focused on being a global AgTech innovator and recently launched their AI/machine learning technology called FreshCloud.
For the past couple of years we’ve been seeing much ado about Apeel and Hazel and how these tow companies have been fight produce waste. But just sitting under the covers has been AgroFresh who has been offering revolutionary and proven solutions to the produce industry for more than 20 years and are doing some very cool things that are playing a key role in reducing food waste. They are focused on being a global AgTech innovator and recently launched their AI/machine learning technology called FreshCloud. FreshCloud provides a digital services platform that provides a real-time produce command center, capturing physical data and transforming those inputs via AI/machine learning into enhanced decision-making insights to maximize produce quality and freshness – and minimize waste. FreshCloud allows customers to answer key questions throughout the produce productions journey, using data to help make crucial decisions on produce quality, harvest timing, packing, storage and market conditions.
AgroFresh recently announced that Montague, one of Australia's largest fruit growers, will utilize FreshCloud Quality Inspection to drive a comprehensive transformation of its entire quality system and decision-making for the management of fresh produce. What I like about their new offering, Fresh Cloud, is it brings it down to the farm level that gives farmers continuous info to optimize their harvest, enhance quality and yield – things that keep farmers up at night. I am not a farmer, I wish I was, and with all the technology and tools available now, it’s a more exciting and advanced career than ever before. What we need are more resources, like AgroFresh investing in the technologies not only to make farming more precise – but to give farmers the edge over climate change and the hope that even small farmers can make a profit.
