Interactive & Educational Conference Designed to Meet the Needs of Retailers, Foodservice Operators, Food Manufacturers, Investors, Financial Services and Policy Makers
February 15, 2022 – The Food Institute and The Lempert Report today announced the inaugural Protein & Plant Evolution virtual conference and trade show focused on the protein market. The event will be held June 1-3, 2022, with sessions scheduled at 11:00am-12:30pm and 2:00pm-3:30pm EST each day. Networking opportunities will also be included as part of the program.
While every 2022 trend forecast has included plant protein as one of the top trends, the Protein & Plant Evolution conference aims to take a comprehensive look into the broader protein market, including plant-based, traditional, cellular, fermentation, and insect protein. As consumer awareness and concern for animal welfare, personal nutrition and planet-friendly practices increases, this conference is an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of what shoppers expect from the food industry when it comes to sustainability and ESG. In-depth analyses of these key protein categories will be presented, offering insights into how they intersect with the American diet.
According to recent FMI and NielsenIQ, 72% of consumers said transparency from food companies is important or extremely important. Of those 72% respondents, 78% said they want to be informed for health and well-being reasons, and 69% said they want to be informed because of environmental concerns. The conference is designed to help food industry professionals leverage animal and plant protein trends while introducing them to new technologies and emerging brands that will shape the future of our food supply and the evolving shoppers’ needs.
“While there has been much attention given to plant-based protein over the past couple of years, nothing has been done to offer a holistic perspective and a balanced platform for both animal and plant protein stakeholders to create dialogue and share knowledge,” said Phil Lempert, Founder and Editor of The Lempert Report and SupermarketGuru.com, and co-founder of Protein & Plant Evolution.
Brian Choi, CEO of The Food Institute and co-founder of Protein & Plant Evolution, added, “The protein industry has gone through a tremendous evolution over the past 10 years, and this conference is an opportunity to showcase the latest innovations and insights to retailers, foodservice operators, food manufacturers, and investors.”
This symposium is designed for companies focused on protein product innovation and will include 360-degree dialogues on consumer trends, product development, regulatory issues, investment opportunities, financing, business development, and go-to-market strategies for both retail and foodservice.
Similar to a traditional conference and trade show, Protein & Plant Evolution will feature keynotes and educational break-out sessions led by industry experts, networking sessions, individual appointments and more. Participating sponsors will receive a Virtual Experience tradeshow booth and can schedule one-on-one meetings with retailers, foodservice operators, CPG brands, investors, food product developers, and technology partners. Sponsors will also be able to send product samples and literature in advance to qualified attendees as part of the Samplefest® Virtual Experience SWAG Box.
