Each week we review a food related app. This week it’s Ingredient1 – find out what the Lempert Report thought.
What it says it does: Ingredient1 is your personal food shopper empowering you to discover, locate and share food tailored to you. Daily-curated recommendations from nutritionists and tastemakers help you escape boring food routines. Have confidence food tastes great before you buy it. Conveniently share your dietary preferences and allergies with friends to avoid food faux pas.
What it actually does: Create your “FoodID” and find products tailored to your dietary needs, sustainability preferences, allergies, and flavors you love. Find food and trending products based on your preferences, aka your FoodID. See the ingredients and nutritional information for natural, organic and specialty products before you shop. Ingredients1 lets you discover new products, for example, love mint? Get more of those results. Hate cilantro? Consider it gone.
You can even save all of your finds to a shopping list that you can access on the go, or email your finds to friends and family.
How useful is the information for target audience?: The app is extremely useful for those with particular dietary or ingredient preferences. Currently the food finder is only available in NYC. This app will be even better when you can find foods around the country based on your location.
Ease of use: Ingredient1 is very straightforward and has an extremely self-explanatory, user-friendly interface.
Who would best benefit from the app?: Anyone who has specific dietary and ingredient preferences and who wants to discover new products tailored to their needs and tastes.
