The App Review: Key Ingredient RecipeGrazer

Each week we review a food related app. This week it’s Key Ingredient by RecipeGrazer – find out what the Lempert Report thought.

What it says it does: The Key Ingredient RecipeGrazer is a feast for the eyes. Skim and save fresh, beautiful recipes from all over the world! Powered by Key Ingredient, the free social recipe website with over 1,500,000 recipes shared by members, one of the largest and fastest growing recipe collections in the world. The free RecipeGrazer app streams thousands of beautifully photographed recipes to your iPhone or iPad in a paged format - perfect for those times when you are seeking inspiration, surprise or just flipping pages for something new.
 
What it actually does: Key Ingredients allows users to browse recipes, as well as create and share recipes.  It also acts as a virtual cookbook, where you can “favorite” recipes that you think deserve a second look.  Search recipes by key ingredient or keyword and when a recipe is selected the full screen view is perfect for following along when cooking. There is even a handy ingredient list that you can add to your shopping list.
 
How useful is the information for target audience?: The app is very useful for anyone looking to try new recipes, get out of a culinary rut, or just browse for ideas. Recipes range from dessert to breakfast, easy to more difficult - and finding a recipe that suits your needs is a pleasure, as all recipes are accompanied by a mouthwatering image.
 
Ease of use: Key Ingredients is easy to use and fun to browse recipes with a swipe of your finger.  A more detailed search function would be useful, but if you know what your looking for both generally and specifically you are more than likely to find it
 
Who would best benefit from the app?: The app is great for anyone who loves food and cooking or who is looking to try something new. Those who like the sharing and social aspect will also enjoy the app.
