The App Review: Spingredients

Each week we review a food related app. This week it’s Spingredients – find out what the Lempert Report thought.

What it says it does: Create your new signature dish with Spingredients! Select one key ingredient, and Spingredients will select fantastic flavor combinations. Do you ever get to the supermarket, have one ingredient in mind, and need some inspiration as to what to cook it with? Let Spingredients bring that inspiration. Whether you're a gourmet chef, or a complete novice cook, Spingredients will provide the inspiration that you need in order to create fantastic dishes.

What it actually does: Spingredients is a fun app that lets you get creative with your meals. Not sure exactly what to cook but have a few ingredients on hand – let Spingredients figure out the rest. The app has over 400 ingredients to choose from and more than 23,500 flavor combinations have been rated. You can even “override” Spingredients flavor combination with personal ratings. When you find the combination you want to cook, use Spingredients recipe search to find recipes with the specified ingredients.

How useful is the information for target audience?: The app is a fun way to get creative and cooking. You can even get kids involved in the cooking process in choosing what to have for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Ease of use: Spingredients is easy to use. Choose your key ingredient and let Spingredients do the rest. Image quality is excellent and it’s fun to use.

Who would best benefit from the app?: The app is great for those who love to cook, but don’t want to go through tons of recipes to find the desired flavor. Spingredients makes cooking spontaneous and fun!
