Each week we review a food related app. This week it’s Yummly Recipes & Recipe Box – find out what the Lempert Report thought.

What it says it does: Yummly puts every recipe in the world in your pocket. The most powerful digital recipe box, recipe video, and article recommendations just for you (including personal preferences!), a smart shopping list, and one-hour grocery delivery - all with you wherever you go.

What it actually does: Yummily is a food multitasking app. Search recipes that are filtered for diet & allergy preferences, allowing users to always find the perfect recipes. The app will also start learning the likes and dislikes of the user, suggesting recipes each individual is sure to enjoy. The search sources from top recipe sites including: AllRecipes, Epicurious, Food52 and from food blogs including: Chow, Simply Recipes, Steamy Kitchen, and more. Users can also track nutrition and servings with Yummly's integration with the Apple Health App. Yummly is also integrated with Instacart, so users can add items from the app to Instacart and have the food delivered right to the door.

How useful is the information for target audience?: The app is great for those looking for food inspiration, new recipes, new cooks, or just to get organized in the kitchen. Users can use the app to collect, save and organize recipes… and send the shopping list to Instacart for shopping and delivery!

Ease of use: Yummly is very easy to use, after registering users can start browsing, and by clicking the “yum” button the app will learn preferences and start making expert suggestions.

Who would best benefit from the app?: Anyone who is looking for inspiration, to discover new recipes, or who wants to make their food shopping and meal planning more seamless throughout the week.
