Each week we review a food related app, and this week it’s ZipList  – find out what the Lempert Report thought.

What it says it does: Grocery Shopping. Smarter.  Life’s too short to have to make two trips to the grocery store. With ZipList, you can access the most up-to-date family grocery list right from your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.  Create and update shopping lists anytime, anywhere. Family members can retrieve lists, as well as add and remove items via the web, text message, email or instant message.  ZipList has more than 275,000 items in its product database, making it easy to add what you need to your list while on-the-go – without having to type in full product names. In many cases, enter just three or four letters and the desired products will pop up.

What it actually does: ZipList allows users to make a sharable grocery list - you can even sync up with most standard cell phones and other smartphones. The app supports multiple stores, allowing you to organize your lists in aisle-by-aisle order for each store, as well as assign items to specific stores. Users can set priorities for specific items, so you can choose to shop for important items only during quick shopping trips. The app not only makes grocery shopping a breeze with list management but has over 100,000 recipes that you can add the ingredients to your shopping list with just a click. Add your favorites to ZipList’s Universal Recipe Box to keep all of your must-make recipes in one place for easy access.

How useful is the information for target audience?: The app is very useful for creating lists as well as searching recipes. Making “what’s for dinner?” a simple question and shopping easy for whoever is designated to get the groceries.

Ease of use: The app’s interface is easy to use, big icons, and the lists are arranged by aisle or section, so shopping is a breeze.

Who would best benefit from the app?: The app is great for those who are always forgetting to make a grocery list, or bring it to the market. The app is also great for families, so everyone can add their items to one list.
